Химия и жизнь: осенью пройдет акция в честь юбилея таблицы Менделеева

12 октября 2019 года в России и за рубежом пройдет глобальная образовательно-просветительская акция “Mendeleev Lab” («Химическая лабораторная»). Мероприятие состоится в рамках Международного года периодической таблицы химических элементов, объявленного ООН и ЮНЕСКО. Таблица является графическим выражением периодического закона, сформулированного русским ученым Дмитрием Менделеевым в 1869 году. Дата для события выбрана не случайно: 12 октября является днем рождения первой химической лаборатории, которую основал Михаил Ломоносов при Петербургской академии наук.

В этом году акция “Mendeleev Lab” по традиции будет проходить офлайн – в ведущих университетах России и других стран, музеях, культурных центрах и на площадках Россотрудничества за рубежом. В этом году «Лаба» пройдет не только на русском языке, но и английском, французском и испанском.

«Лаборантов» (участников) будут ждать 39 заданий разного типа, которые с ними разберут «завлабы» – ведущие ученые-химики
и популяризаторы со всего мира. Основным партнером проведения акции – Фонд инфраструктурных и образовательных программ Роснано.

Проект «Лаба» включает в себя несколько проектов. 

«Открытая лабораторная» — это самая масштабная однодневная научно-популярная акция в мире. Проходит с 2017 года в честь Дня российской науки. В 2019 году прошла в 30 странах на нескольких языках
и собрала около 100 тысяч участников. В 15 зарубежных государствах соорганизаторами акции стали представительства Россотрудничества. Удостоена премии «За верность науке» в номинации «Прорыв года» (вручается Министерством науки и высшего образования и Министерством просвещения). 

Сайт laba.media — это ежедневный источник информации о науке
и доказательной медицине. Тесты, видео, подкасты и стримы от лучших ученых, популяризаторов и блогеров. Существует с 1 октября 2018 года. 

Тематические акции. 25 апреля масштабно прошла «Генетическая лабораторная» (поучаствовать онлайн можно и сейчас). 17 августа состоялась «Медицинская лабораторная».

Основателем проекта «Лаба» и учредителем АНО «Лаборатория просветительских проектов» является меценат и бизнесмен Роман Авдеев. Миссия организации — поддержать интерес детей и взрослых к получению новых знаний и увлечь в мир науки.

Mendeleev Lab science quiz: test your chemistry skills 

The global event dedicated to the anniversary of the periodic table will take place on October 12, 2019.

Dozens of cities all over the world will join the event which will take place
in the framework of the International Year of the Periodic Table of Chemical Elements proclaimed by the United Nations General Assembly and UNESCO.
The table is a graphic representation of the periodic law formulated by the Russian scientist Dmitry Mendeleev in 1869. The Periodic Table of Chemical Elements
is one of the most significant achievements in science, capturing the essence not only of chemistry, but also of physics and biology. It is a unique tool, enabling scientist to predict the appearance and properties of matter on the Earth and in the rest of the Universe.  

The date for the event is not a coincidence, as October 12 is the birthday
of the first chemical laboratory in Russia, which was set up by Mikhail Lomonosov at the St. Petersburg Academy of Sciences.

The event itself will be held in the leading universities in Russia and other countries, museums, cultural centers and other venues. 39 various tasks are prepared for “laboratory assistants” (participants). In the end the “lab bosses” - leading chemists and popularizers from around the world will discuss the correct answers. All “laboratory assistants” will receive souvenirs, prizes, gifts and bonuses from the partners of “Mendeleev Lab: the leading global manufacturer of chemical experiments for children - the company Mel Science and the Alpina Non-Fiction publisher.

The quiz itself will also be available online at laba.media.

For the first time, Laba will be held in several languages: English, French, Spanish and others. The key sites of the Mendeleev Lab abroad will be representative offices of Rossotrudnichestvo - Russian centers of science and culture.

Mendeleev Lab is part of The Laba science outreach initiative. “Open Laboratory” is the largest one-day popular science event in the world. It has been held since 2017 to celebrate the Day of Russian Science. In 2019, it was organized in 30 countries in several languages ​​and brought together about 100 thousand participants. It was awarded the prize “The true Science” in the nomination “Breakthrough of the Year” (awarded by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education and the Ministry of Education).
